About Me
& This Website
I'm an old guy, semi-retired, a Vietnam era Veteran and I've traveled
over much of the U.S. and parts of Europe. My first "real" camera was a
Minolta SRT 101 that I bought in 1971 while in Germany with the U.S.
Army. That SLR resides with my ex-wife. Divorce in the U.S. usually
translates into an equal division of assets with the ex-wife
receiving half as well as keeping your half if she so chooses.
But, that's a long and
bitter story not worth repeating here. Anyway, I love photography and I
enjoy repair and fixing things as well. So, my love of cameras and my
inclination towards repair led me to repairing cameras and to start
this website in March 2000. If this website helps one camera hobbyist
successfully repair, service or restore his camera, then it's worth it.
This website is non-profit. Any money received goes to cover
the cost to maintain and run this website with whatever remaining
going to charity. I have web pages that are devoted to links, resources,
free repair tips, Free instruction/user/owner's manuals and so
on. The instruction manual web page has a large
selection of free manuals and receives a lot of visitors worldwide
(according to the statistics provided by my host server and from search
engines). So far, the sale of repair manuals have covered the
steady increase of costs and as long as my costs are covered, I will
continue to keep the prices of the repair manuals low. With your
help, I hope this website can become more and more a focal point for
camera hobbyists to find resources, information, links, etc. I do
appreciate any suggestions, links and feedback. If you have anything camera or life related that you wish to talk
about, contact me -->
